Act Up-Paris is an association fighting HIV-AIDS, viral hepatitis, and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), also campaigning for the rights of sexual and gender minorities. Inspired by Act Up-New York, founded in 1987, Act Up-Paris has been active since 1989. The acronym stands for Aids Coalition to Unleash Power.

Two main objectives:

  • Avoid any new contamination by implementing an ambitious strategy of combined prevention directed towards the various publics concerned by the epidemic.
  • Improve the quality of life of people living with HIV by fighting for access to treatment and social rights and against all the discrimination they suffer from.

How can it help you?

Act Up-Paris can receive you, without an appointment, every Wednesday from 1 to 5 pm, in its office at 8 Rue des Dunes, 75019 Paris, as part of the Social Rights Permanence. The association will be able to inform you, guide you, and accompany you in your social or administrative procedures to assert your rights.

Activities

  • Inform on all subjects related to the epidemic through quarterly public information meetings.
  • Mobilize for prevention, by distributing the quarterly periodical Réactup and by interventions in the field.
  • Distribute prevention materials.
  • Support and accompany people living with HIV (PLWHIV) in their efforts through the Social Rights Permanence.
  • Denounce and make visible the obstacles to prevention, access to care, and rights for all, whether those barriers are institutional, social, or industrial.
  • Advocate for and demand substantial changes from all actors involved in the fight against the epidemic.
