Human Rights League (Ligue des droits de l’Homme)

The Human Rights League, created in 1898, is an association that brings together women and men from all walks of life to reflect, discuss and act in defence of the rights and freedoms of all.

The HRL is an independent and generalist association; it fights against injustice, racism, sexism, anti-Semitism, and discrimination. It defends secularism, freedoms, equal rights, and fraternity. It intervenes on the whole territory through its local sections.

How can it help you?

Legal assistance

The HRL's legal service intervenes in all individual and collective cases where public freedoms are at stake. It is competent in matters concerning foreigners' rights, discrimination, unaccompanied minors, prison law, police violence, violence against women, the rights of foreigners, press offenses, etc.

If you think your rights have been violated in one of these fields, you can contact the HRL's legal department, from Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 1 pm, at +33 1 56 55 50 10 or by mail. The legal department will be able to inform you about your rights and the possible steps to take.

The legal department can also question the public authorities in various situations revealing illegal practices or infringing on individuals' rights.

Legal action

If you are a victim or a witness of an infringement of fundamental rights to the detriment of individuals or communities, you can report this infringement to the Ligue des droits de l'Homme. The LDH can then take legal action, for example, when people are victims of racism, violence, or discrimination or when national or local administrative acts infringe on individual liberties.
